34. OMG (Week 6)

“A bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to make the turn.”  ~ Anonymous ~

Two-way traffic had shifted to the south side of the street as the Bee Ridge Road widening project has been underway.  The project began July 2014 and expects to be completed in 2016.  This fire hydrant on the south side is a clue (OMG) on how much dirt must be brought in to raise up this side of the road to match the nearly finished north side.  It appears that the road shift for traffic to the north side will be in September – right around the corner (pun intended!)

  1. Wow. That’s pretty amazing.

  2. Holy cow! I guess next will be the sounds of dump trucks driving back and forth!

  3. Good Grief! I never realized there would be such activity on Bee Ridge. Everybody should be alert.

  4. Very creative! I can’t believe how much fill dirt they’ll need to bring in.

  5. Good eye! My only thought is maybe they will come back and cut it down to size, if that’s even possible.

    • No – that’s the height. All of the pipes go in first. The other side of the road is much higher now. That intersection at Sarasota Golf Club Blvd seems to be the highest. Perhaps it was way too low to start with.

  6. Wow, that’s a lot of dirt to move! I hope they get it done sooner than later for you!

  7. It’ll take till 2016 just to bring in the dirt. 🙂
