52 week's of Marie's Life

52 weeks captured through photos

3. An Expression of Love (Week 5)

Enjoy the little things in life…for one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things ~ Robert Brault ~

Our garage is in the back of the house.  When we decide to ride our bikes, I typically go out the front and open the fence, while my husband goes to the back and  takes our motorcycles out of the garage. Greg usually turns it around for me, which, in itself,  is an expression of love for me.  Last time we took a ride though, I found he had put this hibiscus in my cup holder.  Awe – what a sweetie!

4. Architecture (Week 4)

“The man who has no imagination, has no wings.” ~  Muhammad Ali ~

Continuing with my obsession with the construction progress at the Mall at University Town Center, I recently caught these men at work. I’m trying to imagine what this can be.  Is this an entrance to the mall or perhaps a business on the out-parcel?

Meanwhile, across the street, speculation continues as to what this building is, as well.  Each detail of the architecture may be a clue.  Is that a tall open ceiling at the one end.  Is that an office lobby or a restaurant?  Will there be massive glass windows?  I hear there may be a Cheesecake Factory in our future.  Can this be it???

34. Passage Ways (Week 3)

” The path to success is to take massive, determined action” ~ Anthony Robbins ~

I stopped by the bridge on Cattleman Rd, as I was driving through Nathan Benderson Park, to take pictures of the progress of the  new Mall at University Town Center from the southern vantage point of the lake.  Walking down the embankment, I was surprised to see a winding paved walkway.  Following it, low and behold, it continues under the bridge to the other side.  I felt as if I had just uncovered a secret!  Currently the mall is a work in progress, but the neighboring park, which aspires to be a world class rowing site, is slated to be complete in 2014, as well.

49. Ugly (Week 2)

“Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride.”  ~ John F. Kennedy ~

On my way to work one day, I noticed an orange bicycle chained to a sign at a bus stop. My first thought was that the owner had painted their bicycle orange so that no one would steal it.  Over the course of the next few days, we were talking about it at work. Then someone mentioned seeing one dangling from a tree. Soon another appeared in front of a restaurant. We kept our eyes open and slowly discovered about a dozen of these bicycles around several stretches of University Parkway. I turned to the internet.   The internet search revealed that this was a marketing gimmick for a new gym that was yet to be revealed.  So if the object was to create a buzz, they certainly succeeded!

30. Other Photographers (Week 1)

“Thank you for being a friend -Traveled down the road and back again – Your heart is true – you’re a pal and a confidant.

And if you threw a party – Invited everyone you ever knew – You would see the biggest gift would be from me – And the card attached would say – thank you for being a friend.”

~ Lyrics to Golden Girls theme song by Andrew Gold ~

Since this is week one of our 52 Week Challenge, we thought it would be fun to take our pictures of one another!  Tricia, Clara, Bobbi, and I have shared many fun times together and will be encouraging each other with this new challenge.

Here we were this weekend at a Motormaid luncheon to hear the tales of fellow Motormaids who had just returned from a convention in Bend, Oregon, on their bikes. We gather to show love and support for other ladies who ride.  And of course they all wanted to be in our picture, but we had to make them wait as we explained what we were doing.  I don’t doubt that we’ll have many more followers of our blogs now!  I’m including their picture below to thank them for their friendships, as well.
